Here are some of the solutions I've developed to help auto dealerships survive. These packages have been field-tested and refined in the heat of real-world, major market auto retailing.

Promises don't cut it anymore.

Repair Talk
An Interactive Voice Response system providing repair customers with progress updates, costs and completion time. If a customer chooses to speak to the Service Manager, the system automatically displays the repair file on the Manager's network terminal.

Automated Parts Ordering
First of its kind, way ahead of the pack. Customers can order parts or schedule service on the Web. A hard copy printout is automatically faxed to the Parts and Service Manager. We use shopping cart technology to sell high-profit accessories online.

Hot Sheet Database Tracking System
This system tracks the most complicated car deal every step of the way — from a customer decision, through multiple rounds of financing, to delivery of the car.

Automated Showroom Control
A showroom kiosk invites potential customers to log in our database by entering a contest. They pick the car they like best. The system assigns a salesperson, tracks the follow-up, thanks the customer, then sends out regular service reminders automatically. Sweet.

Least-Cost Routing Systems
Everybody does it now, but I developed and installed a pioneering telephone switch that shuttles calls among four of my family's dealerships. It's a simple equation: effective communication equals car sales.
